The Himalayan ranges of Nepal are the most biased sites in terms of butterfly research. Although, due to the heterogeneity in landscape and the existence of varied climates, the high altitudes regions of Nepal have remarkable habitats for globally protected, and endemic butterfly species. Despite this fact, butterfly research in such regions is limited. As a result, the reliable science-based evidence on Himalayan butterflies concerning altitudinal distribution patterns is not fully documented. Even, the scientific database of trans-Himalayan butterflies is also inadequate. In understanding such a gap, this project aimed to conduct a scientific study in the trans-Himalayan region to explore the diversity and spatial distribution of Himalayas butterflies. This study was conducted in Mustang, a central-north trans-Himalaya Nepal with funding support from Nagao Natural Environment Foundation, Japan under Mr. Bimal Raj Shrestha as a Principal Investigator and team members Mr. Ashant Dewan and Ms. Rubina Thapa Magar
