Large areas of the Himalayan regions are still underexplored in terms of butterfly diversity, abundance and distribution. Therefore, there is a huge research gap. As a result, the current status of the Himalayas butterflies is still unknown. Additionally, local communities' knowledge regarding the significance of butterflies in ecological services and conservation perspectives is extensively lacking. Exploring the current conservation status and conducting outreach programs to spread conservation knowledge among local communities are the major aims of this project. The project is financially supported by The Rufford Foundation, UK.
