The hog deer (Axis porcinus Zimmermann, 1780) is an endemic species to South and Southeast Asia. The species' population has rapidly declined for decades from its home ranges including Nepal. However, a limited number of studies on hog deer have been carried out to date in Nepal. Therefore, this project has been designed to address the ecological roles and assess the current conservation status of hog deer in Chitwan National Park, Central Nepal. This project has been supported by The Sophie Danforth Conservation Biology Fund and conducted under the PI of Mr. Kiran Thapa Magar.
